    Feel the camera. SLR camera is likely to be at least twice as large and heavy as your small camera. Check for comfort, hold it against your eye; hang it around your neck to feel it. Take a range of shots, adjust the controls for settings such as shooting modes. Operate the flash, remove the battery, and check memory card. 

  • Canon’s 5D MII has Black Spots

    Canon’s new 5d Mk II is its newest and most expensive camera to date (priced at$2,500 at that). It takes extremely nice pictures and video but a lot of customers are claiming that black dots appear in the images.

    According to the press release, the black dot phenomenon can occur while shooting night scenes, and appear on the right side of point light. Apparently, the dots aren’t as noticeable in snapshots, but become very pronounced as images are either enlarged on a monitor or, when enlargement prints are made. The vertical banding issue apparently only rears its ugly head when the image quality is set to “sRAW1.” “RAW,” “sRAW2” and “JPEG” images are not affected. Meanwhile, 5D Mk. II owners can reduce the noise by adjusting the C.Fn II-3 and setting the highlight tone priority to 0: Disable.

    The new Sony Cybershot H10 uses a great Carl Zeiss 10x optical zoom lens with great SteadyShot optical image stabilization to capture action. The lens yields sharp, high-contrast images and reduces color fringing, even when shooting in telephoto ranges.
